Nicole Named Goodwill Style Icon

I really should write this as a standard press release, thusly:

March 2, 2011 – “Nicole Poole of Thrift Store Confidential was named a 2011 Style Icon by Goodwill of New York/New Jersey earlier today…”

but I’m so damned excited about it I can’t focus.  Doing funny dances, making  little “woop” noises every few minutes, etc.

I work on Thrift Store Confidential because it feels good to give.  Recognition is nice, but not the reason.  Thrifting is so good for everyone; the community, the environment and the shopper, I’ll shout it from the rooftops whenever and wherever I can.  To be recognized by Goodwill, who are to me the rockstars of the charity resale world, is mind-blowing.  I do feel like Burt Parks just handed me a tiara and an armful of roses.  It’s that special to me.

Anyhoo.  Before I turn into Sally Field, here’s the post.

Thank you, Cait Weiss, and THANK YOU, Goodwill.

I'm Nicole. I live in New York City, in a small apartment full of strange little things. I love the color orange, yet my kitchen is pink. Spreading the word about the benefits of thrift stores is my passion; I do a lot of other stuff too. I'm an audiobook narrator and professional voiceover artist. I'm also the daughter of a fabulous painter, O. Gail Poole, and I paint whenever I can. Then there's Soundpainting, where I conduct and perform with jazz orchestras, mostly in France. I love to travel, love to cook, love to see my friends when I can. Basically I try to eke out the most creative, fulfilled life I can while living in the margins. And you folks really keep me going. Thanks for stopping by. [...]
