My guess is that if you’re a thrift store connoisseur, you’re creative. If you’re reading this, well, you’re also quite the sassy rogue. These are two qualities that I’m looking for to help round out content for our enormously expanding readership. This is an official call for writers. Put pen to page or fingers to keys. Spread the knowledge and the love. Come join us.
Do you wish we had more man-centric posts? Brother, so do I. Do you have a yen for more decorating ideas? Have you SEEN my apartment lately?
In short, I need your help. This fabulous site (ask me for my web guy) is done in my spare time on my own thin nickel because I love it and I’m passionate about spreading the word, but with visiting 30 NYC Thrift Stores in 30 days, trying to make a living and the lure of sleep, I can’t keep up with it all.
I love thrifting for the savings, sure, but primarily I get inspired by meeting people who work for something other than money. The goal of Thrift Store Confidential is to build a community who shares resources to help people from all walks of life get the most out of shopping second-hand. If you’re a like-minded soul and have something you think would be a good contribution, I’m all ears.
You can comment below if you don’t want to write but have ideas for things you’d like to see; if you’re a writer up for a fun assignment of your own making, hit the “contact” button at the top of the page and throw me a few fast balls. We’ve got over 15,000 hits per month and growing fast, so your work will be seen, your blog will be plugged, your tweets will be followed. At this point, that’s all I can offer, but it’s a start. Your work stays your own, and I’ll be ever so happy to know you.
Looking forward to meeting you. Thanks for bandying around the idea.
Yours in Thrift and kindest regards,
Nicole

I’m interested. I’m running a Thrifting 101 series on my blog and have a plethora of ideas related to vintage and Thrifting.. Check out my blog and let me know if my writing is what you’re looking for. Would love to be considered.
how do we submit a post for consideration?
Hey Gwen! First, a shout-out to my hometown. OKC has some fabulous thrift stores! Second, just write a pitch for what your idea is and what you’d like to cover. I can help you tailor it, but so long as it has to do with thrifting or repurposing, the sky’s the limit. I’d love to see more craft-related posts, home decor and local reports if that gives you an idea, but those aren’t set in stone. The idea of this is to spread the knowledge as far as we can and to showcase the wonderful thrifty hearts in this country. Just follow the “Contact” button at the top (spam prevents me from giving my e-mail address here). Thanks so much for your interest. Thrills me to have a fellow Okie on board!
I just came across your twitter and followed it to your blog. I am truly happy to come across your page. I have been thrifting since birth and I am a true believer that you can find many beautiful and stylish items at second hand stores. I would love to contribue. I will be sending you a post very soon.
I love the whole concept of your blog. I am so glad I found it. I look forward to future Newsletter and hope to contribute an articel or two about great finds at thrft stores.
Great, Charity! Glad you’re finding the content worthwhile, and looking forward to hearing what you come up with!
Ooohh! I am keen. Let me brainstorm…..
Hi Nicole,
…You actually know me from another life. this is Kim (aka “from Reverie”). I’m interested in this — maybe a feature on how to re-use or re-vamp Thrift Store fines (i.e., getting a sweater and unraveling it so you can re-use the yarn if you’re a knitter? Getting a t-shirt and altering it? Getting some ceramics and painting them? Getting a plain white scarf and painting that?)
You can reach me through the Reverie web address, or via Colin. Thanks.
I just stumbled across the site and boy, am I excited.
I’ve recently started a thrift blog of my own dedicated to thrift along with flea markets, yard sales, and consignment shops. It’s geared towards teens and young adults since I’m an 18 year old thrifter!
I would love to help out with the writing. Email me and we can talk details.
