Planet Green has launched “Dresscue Me,” a show that features self-taught designer and vintage guru Shareen Mitchell, showing shoppers how to navigate the world of vintage delights. I will freely admit that initially I felt abject, unbridled envy for Shareen’s job, but she’s a pro. She digs through the bins like the rest of us, does it so well, and approaches her subjects with such gratitude coursing through every inch of her, that my envy has turned to complete admiration.
What’s even better is that Planet Green has partnered with Goodwill’s Donate Movement, which helps to raise awareness for what we can all do to help strengthen our communities.
Below is a clip of the show, as well as Planet Green’s description. Shareen is a lovely thrifty sister, so please support her, and all of our efforts to turning on America to the delights of shopping second-hand.
We’re pleased to announce an all-new series on Planet Green! Dresscue Me, premiering April 19 at 10:30 pm, follows the fashion world’s best-kept secret-Shareen Mitchell, beloved by fashionistas and recessionistas alike for her unique, affordable approach to vintage clothing.
A self-taught designer with retail outlets on both coasts, Mitchell is renowned for her ability to give new life to dowdy old duds by turning them into chic, fashion-forward frocks. To create these one-of-a- kind pieces, Mitchell welcomes her exclusively female clients into her hip boutiques in both downtown Los Angeles and New York’s Chelsea district, to hear their stories and make them over in a distinctly Shareen Vintage style that helps them look and feel their best.”

I love the parts of the show that actually show the vintage clothes and how you update the pieces, but my GOD please cut the DRAMA. Just because we are women does not mean we want full time drama, just show us the fashion. Not every client has to be a CANCER Victim either, jeez…..
